An illegal immigrant who shot a trainee policewoman was jailed for 30 years last week for her attempted murder. Trevon Thomas, 24, shot Pc Rachael Bown as he ran away from police investigating a burglary in Nottingham in February. Thomas entered Britain from Trinidad on a six-month visitor's visa in 2000, and was ordered to be deported after serving half his sentence.
